Level 1: Get it spinning

A steady spin makes every later trick easier.

Step 1

Roll the diabolo along the ground to start its spin, then lift gently.

Challenge: Start the diabolo successfully 5 times.

Step 2

Use small repeated pulls with your dominant hand. Keep the other hand calmer.

Challenge: Keep it spinning for 20 seconds.

Step 3

Watch the cups and make small corrections before the tilt gets large.

Challenge: Hold a mostly level spin for 15 seconds.

Use the spin you built to try beginner tricks.

Step 4

Open the sticks slightly for a low toss, then guide the string under the axle.

Challenge: Make 5 low tosses and catches.

Step 5

Swing the diabolo toward one stick so the string wraps, then reverse the movement.

Challenge: Complete 3 clean wraps and unwraps.

Step 6

Guide the diabolo in one large smooth circle around the sticks.

Challenge: Complete 2 smooth circles.
